    Darren 'Capes' Capewell

"Capes is one of the best guides I have come across anywhere in the world.
He is passionate about his people, the land, the language and history of the
Gutharraguda (Shark Bay) region.”

Dr Ross Dowling, Professor of Tourism, Edith Cowan University

Award winning Darren ‘Capes’ Capewell has carved a name for himself as a charismatic and deeply passionate tour guide of the Shark Bay region. As a descendant of the land’s traditional owners, Capes feels it is his duty to be an ambassador for both his people and his country.

Wula Gura Nyinda Eco Adventures offer above and beyond the conventional experience, and it is Capes dynamic, personal approach that leaves a lasting impression with visitors. His inherent understanding of the land and culture is delivered with passion and infectious enthusiasm.

Capes was named "Indigenous Tour Guide of the Year" at the 2006 Ghunkai Awards for Indigenous tourism excellence. The following year Wula Gura Nyinda was awarded silver for Indigenous Tourism at the Western Australian Tourism Awards.

Capes continues to play a significant role in the development of Indigenous Tourism in Western Australia and is a current board member with the Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council (WAITOC). He has previously worked with and is now an active director with the Yadgalah Corporation. Capes previously sat on the Board of the Shark Bay World Heritage Committee, Australia's Coral Coast Tourism Board and is actively involved with Indigenous Tourism Australia (ITA).
